Notes on Self Mastery
Spiritual Definitions
Most spiritual teachers and masters have referred to the Self through different names. Carlos Castaneda calls it the Luminous Being, G.I.Gurjieff called it the Essence, Harry Palmer author of Avatar calls it the Source, Religion calls it the Soul, New Age people call it the Spirit, Buddhists and practitioners of Psychosynthesis call it the Self, businessmen call it the Will.
So the Self goes by different names, each discipline or tradition defining it in their own terms. For our purposes it doesn't really matter what we call it, what matters is that we find a way to master it.
